My michelin guide : "Egg bowl" of Tamahide 玉ひでの玉丼"
Founded in 1760', there are eating and drinking establishments that have continued since 259 years ago. It is called an old restaurant "Tamahide".
I knew that this store is a very famous shop in egg bowl. Because it is a famous shop, I wanted to try it at once, and I went out.
I arrived at the shop at 11:30 am. But already a long queue was made and I was kept waiting for half an hour until I sit down. I waited for 20 minutes until food arrived.
It is said that Mis.Yamada Toku (circa 1940') invented an egg bowl. At that time a simmering pot based on chicken became popular, eaten by many people. After eating, only soup without ingredients remains in the pan. The egg was added to this soup and it was Mis.Yamada Toku of this shop that made it "Last meal to eat". This "Last meal to eat" became reputable and many customers came to come. I guess it was delicious as it is the soup that leaves only the taste of the meat.
Although it is not the same as in the past, "Egg bowl" which added a fighting cock meat based on egg is popular.
It is already been one year since I ate this "Egg bowl" at this store. It is a bit far from our house, but I want to go back to eat again.

創業1760年、今から259年前から続いている老舗の飲食店がある。「玉ひで」という。
この店が卵丼で大変有名な店であることは知っていたので、一度は食べてみたいと私は出かけて行った。
お昼の11時30分に店に着いたが、すでに長い行列ができており席に座るまで30分待たされた。席に着いてから食べ物が届くまで20分待った。
卵丼を考案したのが山田とく(1940年頃)。当時鶏肉をベースにした煮込み鍋が流行り、多くの人に食べられていた。食事後、鍋には具材のない汁だけが残る。この汁に卵を加え「閉めの飯」にしたのが、この店の山田とくであった。この「閉めの飯」は評判になり客が沢山来るようになったという。肉の旨みだけが残る汁だから旨かったのだろう。
今は昔と同じものではないが、卵をベースに軍鶏肉を加えた「卵丼」が人気です。
この店で「卵丼」を食べてもう1年になる。我が家からは少々遠いが、また食べに行きたい。
