Japanese culture : “Yosakoi Dance”
Japanese culture : “Yosakoi Dance”
August 24th, “Yosakoi Dance” was performed in Harajuku, a city full of young people. A festival where young and old men and women dance in gorgeous costumes attracts me.
“Yosakoi Dance” is a new culture that started in Kochi Prefecture in 1954'. Initially it was a small local festival, but since the “YOSAKOI Soran Festival” was held in 1992' in Sapporo, Hokkaido, a group of dancers was born throughout Japan. 110 groups participated in Harajuku. About 7,000 dancers are dancing.
This festival is performed by dancers listening to the loud music on the tracks. However, because Harajuku in Tokyo cannot be used on the street for a long time, the performance on the street was short, and three large stages were created and dances were performed at this place.
